It’s been over two years since Willy switched from eating store bought kibble to a complete and balanced raw diet of fresh, uncooked meats and greens. The changes in his health have been remarkable. No more hot spots, no more chewing at his paws, no more irritated skin – just a healthy, happy, thriving Boston – the way he should be!

“Bring in the Beagle!” they said. I could hear him breathe before I saw him furtively enter the room. Eyes and ears lowered, nose to the floor, he barely looked side to side. Here was our third obese Beagle in a month….what were we going to do about this? More to the point, that night sleep was replaced with the memory of the tick shaped dog with the labored breathing ….what was I going to do about it?? The Bodacious Beagle Program at the shelter was begun. He and the two others were not put on a “diet”, rather they were given high quality kibble in amounts appropriate to their size. They were encouraged to play outside with the other dogs. However, as time went on it seemed as though nothing we did would help them change their size. Cal spent days and weeks looking soulfully out of his kennel as everyone around him went to their forever homes.

Last Christmas, Cal became a member of the Blue Sky Beagle pack. On the day he came home he weighed in at 38#, his chest measured 26” and his waist measured 26”. His first night home, he ate his first raw food meal with the rest of the pack. He was not put on a “diet”, no extra exercise, nothing except excellent nutrition in normal amounts for his size. Treats were fresh fruits, vegetables, and dehydrated raw meat. In the first week, things clearly began to change. He lost 3” off his waist as the bloat left his body, energy started to flow.

By May he reached his current weight of 22# and proudly pranced into his intended life. He had lost 9” from his waist and 6” from his chest.

He is an excellent example of that is in store when basic nutritional needs are met. By eating Raw Bistro, he escaped his “fat coat” jail. He was 4 years at adoption, he is now about 2 years old! Since his weight kept him from having normal life experiences, Cal is now in school “catching up” and loving life.

I have never given any thought into what is actually in dog food. When I got Lady in March of 2011 it became quickly apparent something was going on, our vet discovered she has a grain allergy. After trying countless expensive dry dog food brands and finding nothing that really made it better, I began to look for something else. I was like most people very nervous about feeding raw food to Lady. I took the leap of faith and tried it, And boy am I glad that I did. Raw Bistro has helped Lady not only with her digestive problems but also with her coat, it’s so soft and bright. It helps keep her is tip top shape, which is important because she spends her days competing in Doggy sports. Not only do we love Raw Bistro’s food but also the philosophy that the company is based upon. Lady would give both the food and treats two pawbumps!

We’re excited to finally be rolling out Raw Bistro products in stores throughout the Twin Cities, after some unplanned delays. In mid-2011 we had our much-tested-and-perfected recipe down Pat (as in founder Pat Greene) and were gearing up for production. But our packaging, a resealable zip ‘chub’ or tube, was giving us problems, and no matter what we tried, there was a tendency toward leakage. Rather than hit the market with what we knew wasn’t quite right, we sought a different solution, changing our format to patties that could be easily packaged in a zipper bag. The result is a better solution all around–easier to portion, thaw and serve as well as store. Look for our Raw Bistro Entree’s and Bistro Bones in the freezer cases at select independent pet retailers, and start your dog on the path to health and vitality nature intended!
