With National Raw Feeding Week upon us, we wanted to share all the benefits of a raw food diet with the world. Read on to learn more about this holiday and why it’s important for pet owners everywhere!

What is National Raw Feeding Week?

Founded by Kimberly Gauthier of Keep the Tail Wagging, National Raw Feeding Week is held during the first week of April, and it is a week dedicated to sharing all the benefits of feeding raw food to your pets. Throughout the week, pet owners are encouraged to use social media, videos, and blog posts to share everything they’ve learned throughout their experience of transitioning their pets to a raw food diet.

What is Raw Feeding?

For those unfamiliar, raw feeding is the act of giving your pets a more natural diet that aligns with what their ancestors ate.

Modern pet foods like kibble have become the mainstream — but it’s not a natural diet. Raw feeding is a way of bringing your pets’ diet back to the basics and making them happier and healthier.

When is National Raw Feeding Week?

This year, National Raw Feeding Week is observed from April 1-7. This is one of many holidays on the calendar that is made to celebrate and promote a happier and healthier lifestyle for your pet. (Keep reading to learn about more pet-themed holidays that you can celebrate!)

5 Ways to Recognize National Raw Feeding Week

Looking for a fun way to celebrate National Raw Feeding Week with your dog? Here are five things that you can do to celebrate and recognize this fun holiday!

1. If You Haven’t, Start Introducing Your Pup to Raw Food

Is your dog still eating kibble and prepared foods? If so, now is the perfect opportunity to start transitioning your dog to a raw diet. Browse Raw Bistro’s selection of raw foods and find the perfect one for your pup!

Is your budget making you skeptical of introducing raw food to your dog’s diet? No worries — these days, you can feed your dog raw food while still sticking to a kibble budget! Learn more about how to introduce raw food to your dog’s diet in a financially-friendly way!

2. Raise Awareness

Despite all the good that a raw food diet does for a dog, many dog owners still don’t know just how much a raw food diet can benefit a dog. National Raw Feeding Week is a perfect opportunity to spread the word! Do you know some dog owners that have a pup who could benefit from a raw food diet? If so, tell them all about your experience with raw food and how it has changed your dog’s life!

Don’t know anyone personally? No problem! Take to social media or the Internet to spread the word with the dog owner community. Convincing even one person to introduce raw food to their dog is worth it if it leads to one more healthy dog.

And if you use Raw Bistro raw dog food specifically, we’d love to hear from you! Send us your Raw Bistro story and we’ll help spread the word.

3. Give the Dog Lover in Your Life a Raw Bistro Gift Card

Holidays are better with gifts, so why not give the dog lover in your life the gift of a healthier dog? With a Raw Bistro gift card, you can give your loved one the chance to try out the Raw Bistro way for themselves with a raw entree (or two, or three, or twelve) of their choice!

4. Give Your Dog Some Vegetables

Did you know that there are plenty of dog-friendly vegetables? These vegetables provide a variety of health benefits to your dog, and mixing them sporadically into their diet can work wonders on both their short and long-term health.

5. Spend the Day with Your Dog

This one may seem obvious, but when was the last time that you and your dog spent a day together? It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of everyday life, and we sometimes forget to spend some quality time with our best friend. If you can, find a day to take your dog on a long walk, take a trip to the park, visit a pet store and pick out a new toy, or do anything else that your dog loves. Afterward, end the day by serving them one of these tasty raw food recipes!
